こんにちは。昨日は久しぶりの雨でしたが、今日は青空がひろがっています。

最近、なぜか、どのレッスンも「Adjective」で、私の頭の中も時々混乱しそうになっています。

先週は「そうです」を勉強しました。

日本語で「～そうです」は、色んな場面で使われます。同じ「～そうです」でも、伝聞なのか推量なのか。

でも、いちばん良く使うのは、やはり、見かけの「～そうです」かなと思います。英語で言うなら、「looks]です。私も英語でよく使ってるかもしれません＾＾。

「彼女はとてもうれしそうです」

「これ、おいしそうですね」などなど。

ただ、これも、いAdjectiveとなAdjectiveでルールが違います。また、「いいgood」もイレギュラーですので、気をつけてくださいね。

【見かけの「～そうです」ルール】

  • い形容詞： 「い」を取る（例：うれしい → うれしそう）
  • な形容詞： そのまま（例：元気 → 元気そう）
  • 特別ルール： いい → よさそう（※要注意！）

家族の表情や、食事を見て、「～そうです」を、表現してみてください＾＾。

また、気温が上がってきました。今年は暖冬なので、今年の夏はあつくなりそうです。でも、これは、looksとは違います。近い将来を予想するときに使います。

いろんな「～そうです」がありますが、まずは、よく使う見かけの「～そうです」から使えるようになるといいですね。

Recently, for some reason, every lesson has been about “adjectives,” and my head sometimes feels like it’s getting confused.

Last week, we studied “sou desu.”

In Japanese, “~sou desu” is used in many different situations. Even though it’s the same “~sou desu,” it can express hearsay or conjecture.

However, I think the one we use most often is the “~sou desu” for appearance. In English, that would be “looks.” I might use it often in English too. ^^

For example:

“She looks very happy.”

“This looks delicious.”

However, the rules are different for i-adjectives and na-adjectives. Also, “ii (good)” is irregular, so please be careful.

[Rules for “~sou desu” (appearance)]

i-adjectives: Remove the final “i”
(example: ureshii → ureshisou)

na-adjectives: Use as is
(example: genki → genkisou)

Special rule:
ii → yosou (be careful!)

Try using “~sou desu” to describe your family members’ expressions or the food you see. ^^

Also, the temperature has been rising. Since this winter has been mild, it looks like this summer is going to be hot. But this is different from “looks.” It’s used when predicting the near future.

There are many different uses of “~sou desu,” but first, it would be good to become comfortable using the commonly used “~sou desu” for appearance.
